Hi there Everyone,

Here is another little tidbit of information for you. After the ceremony, when you get to the venue, do not put your bouquets in vases. Since they have been out of water for a long time, you should just put them on the table, with the face (top) of the bouquet out to the guests and the legs (stems)towards you. This way they are not in you line of vision and help to finish the front of the table.

Once flowers have been out of water for over 20 mins the stems cautarize and do not take up water, so you are not helping to keep them fresh and if they are on the table then you do not need extra vases. Some venues try to help by putting vases on the table for you, but do not use them and you will see that the look is much better.

If your florist is doing your centrepieces or even if you are doing them yourselves, if you take some of the roses petals and some extra greens and put them across the front of the table and then put your bouquets inbetween, you get a really nice look. Some florists will do this for no charge, some will charge, but it should not be as much as getting a long low arrangement. If you do get long low arrangements, remember that you need 1 per 3 people.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely

Fran

Any suggestions that would look nice for a round table, instead of the traditional long table with everyone seated at one side?

Thanks so much smile

Hi there Hon,

Are you sitting just at the back of the table or all around? If there are just 4-6 of you sitting at a table for 8, then do the same thing, put some greens at the front of the table, there will not be a lot of room for much and then put your bouquets in the centre of the greens at the front. It will fill up the space and will save you about 80.00 to decorate. If your table is full and all the seating is being used, then use the same centrepiece as you have for the rest of the tables and put your bouquets around the cake table.

Hope that helps.

Sincerely

Fran

Thanks for the suggestion Fran. Do you have pictures of what you mean by "greens at the front"? I just want to know what to ask my florist to provide me with.

Thanks

Hi there Hon,

Basically, if he/she is doing the set up for you, all they need to do is take a bunch of the foliage that they are using in the bouquet and arrangements and break down the stems to place along the front of the table, kind of like a garland effect, then put some of your rose petals behind and your bouquets go on last. It does not take long to do, and they should not charge you much if they do it for you, (I usually do not charge, since I am there anyway and also do it on the cake table to match).

There are lots of pictures on my site that have the look, I will try to remember a good one to show you and then you can take a look.

I am going to be at the Manor November 21st, doing the Elizabeth Room, so if you want to see it in person, I will be there from 12noon on. If you go, you can call my cell 416 300 3110 and I will tell you which room we are in at the time and you can see how it is done.
Sincerely

Fran

Hi Fran,

Thanks for the offer - I would have loved to come see what you do, but unfortunately I won't be in town that weekend.

I'll check out your site!
