Hi there All,

Another repost, but again thought it would be useful for the new members.

BOUTTONIERES AND CORSAGES.....there is a difference..

Bouttonieres are worn by Men and Men only. They consist of 1 or 2 at the most, small flowers and some foliage. They are pinned on the left lapel, flower head up, stem down.

Corsages: There are 3 different styles of corsage, but not matter how you have them, they are all Corsages.
Pin on: comes with 2 pins and has between 1-5 flowers, greens and a bow.
Magnet:same as the pin on, but leaves no holes in the fabric.
Wristlet: same as the magnet and pin on, but with a small bracelet that goes on the wrist.

The magnet and pin on both go on the left side of the body, with flower heads up and stems down. Use both pins if you have a pin on.

As with all pin on bouttonieres or corsages, you use the pins a follows: 1 pin goes behind the lapel or under the fabric of the gown, into to stems of the flowers and out the other side, the other pin forms a cross action and goes up into the flower heads (it only has to hold on to one flower head to hold), this will keep the flowers in place all day and into night.

Hope that this has helped.

Sincerely

Fran

Are wrist corsages still 'in fashion'? we'd like these for our moms/ladies, since they don't seem to relish the idea of pinning anything through silk dresses/jackets.

I know that the magnets are an option, but our florist indicated that it might pose a significant increase in price.

my mom and MIL both wanted wrist corsages. Even with the option of magnets they felt that the look of it on their dress would ruin their outfits. They really only wore the corsage for the ceremony. I would ask them what they wanted to do - that's what I did.

How much is your florist charging you extra? I do not charge extra for them, they are not that expensive to buy and even with 2 per corsage, it still should not cost extra. If she can do a wristlet, then she can do a magnet for the same price, they cost about the same.

Remember though,it is not written in stone anywhere that the Mothers have to wear corsages, I wouldn't wear one and I am a florist.

Sincerely

Fran

Hi there Hon,

Not silly at all. They can wear both, just make sure that they match, so if you are using white/ivory flowers for your bouquet the groom should match you and his attendants match your attendants. Their pocket folds should match the waistcoat.

Sincerely

Fran
